Westmeath National Roads Design Office is pleased to announce details of the forthcoming seminar on the results from recent archaeological excavations on National Road Schemes.
The theme of the seminar is early industry and settlement. It is hoped to place the results of these excavations within a wider context; looking at land use and resource management, metal working techniques and innovations, as well as considerations on form and function of fulachta fiadha.
Archaeologists will be presenting results from the following National Road Schmes; N4 McNeads Bridge, N52 Mullingar Bypass, N52 Mullingar Belvedere, M4 Kinnegad-Enfield-Kilcock, N6 Kinnegad-Kilbeggan and the N6 Kilbeggan-Athlone.
This seminar will be held in the Mullingar Arts Centre on Saturday, 11th November.
For further details and registration, please contact Orlaith Egan, NRA Assistant Project Archaeologist at the Westmeath NRDO, 044-93-34250 or alternatively oegan@nra.ie. Registration, should be completed by the 3rd November 2006.
